Our Roots

Rusty Russell developed the idea of Extra Transportation & Logistics, Inc. while working for his family’s business. Growing up, Rusty worked with his father in their family-owned business called, "Russells Trailer Repair." He worked there for 25 years and was taught the value of hard work and dedication. Rusty saw the value of starting a transportation and trucking company when he began getting outside requests for moving trailers around Indiana and surrounding states. 

 

Rusty officially founded Extra in 1994. Almost 10 years later, Deborah Russell joined the team. Debbie brought different skill sets and experiences to the table. Her background working in the logistics and supply chain industry has helped shape the company into what it is today.

 

In 2009, Extra Point, LLC was founded, which is our logistics division led by Debbie Russell and Vince Hillan. At this point, business operations were being conducted out of a small trailer. Business continued to grow and in 2015, Extra Transportation & Logistics, Inc. and Extra Point, LLC, moved to their current building located in Indianapolis. 

 

After a few more successful years helping transport products across the Midwest and surrounding states, Rusty and Debbie were ready to expand. In August of 2022, construction began to add on and almost double the building size to include transportation assets and our 3rd party logistics division.
